Avaya Agree a Landmark Deal with RingCentral
We’ve been waiting for Avaya to make their next move and this week it arrived. Did they sell to Mitel? Did they sell to PE? No, they did one of the most crucial partnership deals the UC industry has ever seen with UCaaS leader RingCentral!
It looks like Avaya is going to be bringing RingCentral’s leading cloud UC solution into the Avaya portfolio in exchange for a small stake in the business. The missing piece of the puzzle for Avaya has been a full-fat multi-tenanted UCaaS solution for some time now. Now the two companies together can build a fantastic future together and who knows where it might end up. Avaya has an amazing global customer base and channel network, RingCentral has the latest technology and proven track record for success in the new world of cloud. In my opinion, the best outcome for Avaya and its people, they just need to make it work. Read the full story here
Avaya’s UK MD Moves to Maintel as New CEO
Managed service and cloud specialist, Ioan MacRae left his position with Avaya this week to pursue a new opportunity with Maintel as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. MacRae will begin his new role on the 14th of October, where he’ll play a pivotal part in pushing the development of the brand forward. According to Ioan, he’s thrilled to be joining Maintel at an exciting time in the company’s evolution. MacRae has worked with Maintel as a strategic business partner for many years in the past, so he’s well-positioned to jump into this new responsibility
In his previous job as Managing Director for UK and Ireland at Avaya, MacRae helped to see the UK arm of the brand through a difficult journey during its time in Chapter 11. Chairman of Maintel, John Booth believes that Ioan’s experience makes him the perfect candidate for CEO.
Avaya Launches “ReadyNow” Private Cloud
Avaya might have lost its UK Managing Director this week and gained a new UCaaS partner, but that isn’t holding the leading communications company back. The organisation also announced the arrival of a new private cloud solution for modern consumers called “ReadyNow”. This updated solution will be available with the launch of new Avaya-based partner-hosted data centres within the APAC and EMEA Regions.
The ReadyNow private cloud solution will give enterprise customers the functionality they need to unlock Unified Communication and Contact Centre tools from Avaya, delivered through a private cloud connection. According to Avaya, the offering comes with per-seat consumption and standard bundles, ideal for enterprises in need of affordable scalability.

Leading video collaboration brand Zoom has achieved a lot of big wins over the last year, including an exceptional IPO, and plenty of modern updates to its communication tools. In the last week, Zoom also announced that one of the world’s leading banking brands, HSBC will be standardizing all of its communication and collaboration strategies in offices across the globe with the help of the Zoom portfolio. This latest announcement is yet another example of the brand’s ongoing success in the marketplace.
The deal between Zoom and HSBC will include licenses for over 290,000 users, as well as a range of conference room connectors spread across 55,000 hardware endpoints. BT (British Telecommunications) will be acting as an integration partner to support the collaboration. Check out the full story here.
